ARTIST statement
My artwork beautifully captures the richness of African culture, weaving together themes of love, family, unity, and celebration through the use of figures. I engage in different unique artistic forms, which include abstract art, landscapes, and figurative representations, I embrace contemporary approaches to breathe new life into traditional concepts. With each piece, I aim to evoke a sense of nostalgia and pride in African traditions, while also exploring the universal aspects of humanity that connect us all. What sets my art apart is the innovative use of unique materials that gives each piece its distinctiveness. With the use of textures, I bring depth sensations that intrigue viewers to engage with the artwork on a multi-sensory level. Additionally, I incorporate unconventional materials such as fiberglass, melted plastic, lace, and more, carefully chosen to add layers of meaning and symbolism to my creations. The use of materials not only ensures the uniqueness of each artwork but also reinforces the narratives I seek to convey. Through my artistic process, I strive to bring out the inherent beauty of African culture and add value to my work, by exploring the interplay between traditional and contemporary aesthetics. I create a visual dialogue that transcends boundaries and invites viewers to appreciate the diverse artistic expressions of my craft. My goal is to foster a sense of appreciation and understanding for the depth and richness of African art, while also sparking conversations about the intersection of culture, identity, and contemporary society. Ultimately, my art serves as a vessel to celebrate the essence of African cultural heritage, to ignite curiosity, and to inspire a broader appreciation for the beauty and complexity of our shared human experience.
